The Network Design Engineer role is a key role in supporting OryxAlign’s ambitions plans for growth. Working as part of a team and reporting to the lead Solution Architect, the primary function of the role is supporting OryxAlign to scope, design, specify and propose new IT network infrastructure and supportable solutions for OryxAlign’s clients and prospects.
The IT solutions proposed are often complex and require a deep technical understanding across multiple technologies such as cloud, security, networking, infrastructure and production environment support requirements, which need to meet the client’s technical requirements and commercial alignment.
It is desirable that the network design engineer has experience of Smart Building infrastructure and the various systems involved.
In addition to the above, the role will require currency with industry knowledge, whilst keeping abreast of emerging trends and best practices.
Role Responsibilities
- Supporting and working with the Sales and Account Management, professional services and managed services teams in scoping, designing, specifying and proposing new, supportable network infrastructure solutions and associated transformational change projects for clients and prospects.
- Providing accurate technical input for tender and bid responses, coordinating elements of the response and taking responsibility for the completion of technical bids and solution overviews, including risk and issue management.
- Supporting the Sales and Account Management team with attending meetings with the clients and prospects to deliver technical expertise.
- Excellent communicator across all mediums to both technical and non-technical audiences, including project and technical documentation.
- Requires an excellent technical background and knowledge of Cisco, Dell & Meraki.
- Create detailed typologies and other technical documentation.
- Participation in strategic account planning meetings with clients to discuss and propose effective technology roadmaps in collaboration with the Sales and Account Management team.
- Exceptional attention to detail, flexibility using own initiative to research, troubleshooting issues and provide recommendations.
Person Specification
- Good Customer Service Skills 2-3 years’ experience
- Networking Experience (routers, switches & firewalls) 5 years’ experience
- Network Administration 5 years’ experience
- General Networking Support (Cisco, Dell / Meraki) 2-3 years’ experience
- Microsoft Windows Server 2012+ 5 years’ experience
- Microsoft Windows (Endpoint) 3-5 years’ experience
- Active Directory, DNS, DHCP etc. 3-5 years’ experience
Certifications
Desirable
- Other networking technologies – Juniper / HP / Dell
- Good understanding of Smart Building infrastructure – BMS, PMS, ACS etc
- Microsoft Cloud technologies (Azure, M365)
- Ekahau ECSC or experience of producing Wireless Design and Surveys.
- Bid management experience, commercial understanding, qualification of new opportunities, submitting RFIs and tender responses, as well as coordination of relevant information such as pricing and technical submissions.
