OryxAlign has grown very successfully since its inception in 2006 and is now a highly respected Managed Services Provider with a well-established and growing brand and client base. The company has invested significantly in its people and business infrastructure over this period, and continues to do so, and now employs more than 90 staff from its London, Manchester and Manila offices. Annual revenue is approaching £14m, with a multi-year business plan to significantly improve this position in the forthcoming years.

The role is based out of OryxAlign’s London office, with the requirement to routinely visit our Manchester office and client sites. OryxAlign operates a hybrid working model that supports a combination of remote and office-based working.
Overall purpose of role
The Head of Professional Services is responsible to OryxAlign’s Chief Operating Officer for the successful delivery of all aspects of the Professional Services business unit. We require a highly capable business unit leader to lead a dynamic team in delivering a portfolio of programmes and projects, including driving continuous improvement into an already high-performing unit of project managers and project engineering resource.
As one of three business unit leads, the successful incumbent will play a pivotal role in OryxAlign’s Senior Leadership Team.
Key duties & responsibilities
Overall accountability and responsibility for the performance of the Professional Services business unit in line with the expectations of OryxAlign’s Business Plan and longer-term intent
Delivering a growing (in number and complexity) portfolio of projects and, where appropriate, programmes to schedule, budget and scope; will drive coherent project, programme and portfolio management through best-practice methodologies in line with OryxAlign’s specific, evolving requirement. Projects shall be delivered correctly; programmes will realise benefits through inclusion of the right projects; and, the portfolio shall be managed to ensure the right projects are executed and delivered at the right time
Providing C-Suite level project, programme and portfolio management reporting, including appropriate analysis and commentary to support longer-term, strategic and operational decision making
Responsibility for effective capacity and resource planning to ensure Professional Services forecast, anticipate and meets the activity demand required by the business
Driving the profitability and operational efficiency of the Professional Services business unit
Driving continuous service improvement in a considered manner to ensure betterment and irreversible change
Ensuring project level documentation and broader programme and portfolio documentation are fit for purpose, with a clear pathway for improvement.
Will work with OryxAlign’s other business units (Solutions and Managed Services) and teams to ensure the business’s broader operating model functions smoothly and remains energised to exploit opportunities and address risks
Required skills, experience and personal qualities
Proven expertise in developing and driving a business unit, including people, processes, integration and P&L responsibilities
Proven expertise in all aspects of IT project, programme and portfolio management
Detailed working knowledge of industry standard project, programme and portfolio management methodologies, including reporting requirements and risk management (MSP, P3M and PRINCE2 experience is expected).
Experience at operating in an ITIL compliant organisation
Excellent problem solving, judgement and decision making
Strong emotional intelligence to successfully galvanise a business unit of 12(+) direct reports, an array of peer and client relationships, and broader internal requirements
Practitioner experience in the delivering modern work space enhancement through digital transformation and cloud and cyber security projects to address risks, obsolescence and reduce technical debt to realise operational advantage.
Excellent communication skills, including written and oral
Experienced in exploiting data to produce high-quality reporting and analysis, including presentation material, decision support documents and formal reporting
Managed IT Services Provider experience is highly desirable
PSA experience, specifically ConnectWise, is highly desirable
