The Challenge

In 2016, Landsec (previously Land Securities) re-tendered the support, maintenance, and management of their IT infrastructure installed across their portfolio of London properties and retail outlets throughout the UK.

Landsec were in search of a technology partner who not only had the experience to deal with extensive and critical Cisco network infrastructure, but also a provider who were at the forefront of delivering advanced, predictive, and automated managed technology services. The infrastructure across the Landsec portfolio sites needed more than a traditional break/fix maintenance arrangement; there was also a requirement for the full life-cycle analysis of the infrastructure installed across the portfolio sites in order to ensure the continued resilience and performance of the critical building applications and security.

CBRE, in partnership with OryxAlign, joint-bid for the Landsec tender and, in late-2016, won the contract to support, manage, and refresh the critical network infrastructure. OryxAlign are one of CBRE’s strategic technology partners and have been working together for several years previous to the Landsec bid.

The Solution

After the contract had been awarded, the first steps were to complete an in-depth and technical site audit across all 29 of the portfolio sites. OryxAlign engaged its dedicated on-boarding team and set out to analyse and document the network infrastructure, as well as the associated critical network services running on the infrastructure. Once this task was completed, the mammoth support mobilisation process started. Two of the core elements of the mobilisation was the deployment and alignment of the OryxAlign RMM platform with monitoring probes being deployed to every device on the network, and the support service transition and hand-over from the incumbent provider to the OryxAlign support team. The full support mobilisation was completed successfully within 3 months, and the go-live was seamless and problem-free. The on-boarding team ensured that all service transition risks were mitigated and that the project was managed and delivered accurately, and with meticulous planning.

Once the support service had been adopted, the life-cycle analysis of the installed infrastructure commenced. The dedicated Landsec project and service delivery team at OryxAlign conducted the full infrastructure audit using the SolarWinds network monitoring and interrogation applications and presented the analysis to Landsec. Following the report, new and refreshed network infrastructures have been designed and implemented across all portfolio sites.
