The Challenge

Jellycat’s network of stockists had grown considerably. Not long after establishing in the UK, Jellycat Inc was set up in Minneapolis in 2001. In the following years, Jellycat have supplied to retail shops, department stores and boutiques throughout the UK, USA, Canada, Europe, Asia and even as far as Australia.

Up until 2011, Jellycat had not extensively reviewed their technology systems. It was at this point that the company succeeded to grow significantly, with plans to introduce ecommerce along with increased staff to handle demand. This meant their internal processes had become constrained, and delivering on their business objectives was hindered. On top of this, Jellycat’s IT systems, applications and products were increasing in size to adhere to the number of users, impeding the businesses technology infrastructure. Jellycat required a review of their entire IT infrastructure to determine the shortfalls and effectively achieve the business objectives.

The Solution

OryxAlign successfully won the tender to become the chosen IT partners. With a proven track record in the FMCG and retail sector it was the natural choice of partner.

Once the technical on-boarding and support implantation had been completed, the engineering team at OryxAlign commenced work on designing and implementing a new IT infrastructure in order to facilitate the planned and projected growth of the company. Careful planning and consideration was undertaken to ensure a seamless and non-disruptive infrastructure upgrade was delivered. The new infrastructure allowed Jellycat to grow their operation with confidence.

Along with the infrastructure upgrade, OryxAlign migrated the telephony infrastructure away from traditional and expensive ISDN through the implementation of SIP trunks which directly reduced Jellycat’s monthly spend on telephony.

In 2014 and due to continued growth, a new SAN & virtualised infrastructure was implemented. OryxAlign had an in-depth understanding of the IT infrastructure having supported and managed it since 2010. Once again, the new infrastructure went in without disruption to the business.
